Jason Yi’s Tae Kwon Do College is a traditional martial arts school offering character development within a family fitness center. Through the traditional art of Tae Kwon Do, Jason Yi’s Tae Kwon Do College facilitates with the building of confidence and boosting of self esteem via a high standard of martial arts training. Jason Yi’s Tae Kwon Do College offers positive martial arts training for families and those of all ages and is a character development center.

Hundreds of children and adults alike benefit from signing up for our traditional programs that offer a great deal of authenticity.

The results of the programs that we offer are extremely beneficial due to our approach of focusing not just on self defence but also on other important aspects of the art, such as working toward a strong mind, concentration and respect. Students are discouraged from inappropriate use of skills learned, such as when it is not necessary to do so, or when it is to display arrogance.

Of course, as well as working on cultivating traditional character strengths, we also teach martial art techniques to a very high level. Students can work their way up the belt grading structure and continually attain new levels of ability. Those students that enter competitions may also win medals at tournaments.

Martial arts learning has many other advantages. Children will benefit from better physical fitness, a positive approach to life, the ability to relax more easily and greater tolerance and understanding. One of the best parts about learning martial arts is that students will learn how to steer clear of conflict and prevent it before it even begins.

A Learning Environment with a Purpose

We make sure that the learning environment at Elite After-School Martial Arts has a purpose. It is structured and supervised. Children do not run wild at the program, and instead they have to behave in a manner appropriate to learning martial arts. This helps to build character and encourage learning.

The program is planned out thoroughly and no aspect of learning is overlooked. Your child will learn through fun daily activities and will develop self-discipline, self-confidence, self-esteem, respect, leadership skills and concentration.

Each day your child will enjoy the following opportunities:

  • A Martial Arts class with a clear learning plan that is separated by level of experience and age group, so your child can progress accordingly.
  • A Life Skills lesson that covers how to deal with difficult people, such as bullies or helps develop essential skills such as organization.

In addition, your child will receive weekly take home lessons that help with character building. Topics of study include:

  • How to demonstrate respect
  • Finding good friends
  • Keeping yourself safe

We can teach your child all the way to the highest level of Martial Arts, the black belt. Children that attain this goal have high self-esteem, are generally better leaders and have greater self-confidence and success than their class mates. They are better able to stand up for themselves and say “No” when faced with peer pressure. They have a more positive outlook on the world around them.

Are Martial Arts for your child?

Learning Martial Arts through structured classes such as ours may not be for you or your child. We’re far more structured than day care or a professional babysitting service. Our service is high quality and provides your child with much more than this. If you are looking for unstructured after school play for your child, this may not be for you.

If however, you can see the benefits that a structured martial arts program will bring to your child and want your child to learn new skills, develop self-confidence, leadership skills, concentration, respect and self-esteem then this could be just the program that you are looking for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my child become a bully through learning martial arts?
No. Martial arts teach that physical acts should only be used as a very last resort. Children taking classes will learn the importance of tolerance and understanding of others, which we find helps to deter issues.

Will you tutor my child to help improve her grades?
Our specialty is martial arts. While your child will have some time to do homework, we’ll not specifically teach your child school-taught subjects. However, we find that many students do better at school, achieving higher grades, due to the concentration and focus skills that we teach at Elite After-School Martial Arts.

My child has special needs. Will your program accept my child?
Our students include those with physical disabilities, those with ADHD and some with mild autism. Martial arts can be helpful for children with these needs.

Do you focus on competition winning or on teaching my child?
Your child’s development is top of the list for us. We want your child to develop the martial arts skills that we teach and gain all of the benefits that we have described as a result. Those that want to enter competitions can get training to do so. Over the years our students have won many awards and medals.

Applying for the Elite After-School Martial Arts Program

The Elite After-School Martial Arts program accepts children to the program that are interested in and committed to learning. It is also best when parents have support for the program too – we find that children with parental support do better, generally.

If your child has no martial arts experience, or lots of experience it is fine. We like diverse classes and we do not discriminate against any child on the basis of race, religion or other factor.

We offer a tour and introductory classes for children that are interested in attending the program. During the tour we cover all the benefits that your child will get through attending the program, and you can see our high-quality facilities at the same time. You can also ask any questions – we’ll be happy to answer them.

To apply for a tour and class, fill out the application form at the top of this website. We’ll respond quickly, usually within 24 hours to let you know when your tour and initial class will be.
